عنوان فارسی رویکردهای متفاوت در مناسبات هند و غرب: نمونه‌های هخامنشی و سلوکی
چکیده فارسی مقاله در این نوشتار، نویسنده سعی دارد تا با بررسی داده‏های باستان‏شناسی، متون کهن و علوم باستانی نظیر ریاضیات، طالع‏بینی و ستاره‏شناسی به چگونگی مناسبات و ارتباطات فرهنگی جوامع هندی، ایرانی، بین‏النهرین و یونانی و نقش آنها در توسعه دانش بشری به‏ویژه در دوران فرمانروایی هخامنشیان و استمرار آن در دوره سلوکیان بپردازد.بدین منظور نویسنده با تأکید بر جایگاه دانش ستاره‏شناسی و طالع‏بینی در این مبادلات، با نگاهی نقادانه به بررسی آراء و نظرات افرادی چون جی. کندی، دیوید پینگری،هلموتهومباخ و رویدیگراشمیت می‏پردازد و از متونی نظیر تاریخ هرودوت، آثاروا ودا و پنجاسدانتا بهره می‏گیرد و ضمن این بررسی‏ها سعی دارد تا برای پرسش‏های زیر پاسخ‌هایی مناسب پیدا کند: پیشینه ارتباط هند با همسایگان غربی‏اش به چه دوره‏ای باز می‏گردد؟ نفوذ ایرانی‏ها بر فرهنگ هندی تا چه میزان بوده است؟ هندی‌ها و بابلی‏ها با توجه به حاکمیت هخامنشیان و سلوکیان بر سرزمین‏های شان از چه طریقی با یکدیگر در ارتباط بوده‏اند و این ارتباطات و مبادلات تا چه مقدار تحت تأثیر دولت‏های حاکم و غالب بوده است؟

عنوان انگلیسی Various Approaches to Relations between India and the West: Achaemenids and Soluki Cases
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Contemplating the circumstances under which the Greeks forged ties with India and the legacy of Alexander the Great, expanded the scope of research from the 4th century B.C to millennia before. As an archeologist I have developed a tendency to seek the root cause of every phenomenon. In this regard, I broke free of the narrow confines of the research and assessed the relations between India and the West far beyond the conventional time frame mentioned in this paper. A history of cultural ties could set the stage for a better transference of thoughts, technology and the produced goods of other nations. Therefore, it could be deduced that the relations of Ekdis and the third Our Dynasty in the south of Mesopotamia with the cities from the Harapan civilization during the two to three century of the last three millennia B.C set the stage for relations between India and western cultures in later periods and after the victories earned by Alexander the Great. On the other hand, due to a 2000 –year gap between the civilizations of Harapan and Late India and their relations with the West, a logical relations between them seems rather unlikely.
