عنوان انگلیسی Toll-Like Receptor 2 (TLR-2) Gene Polymorphisms in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Objective: The factors of innate immunity are associated with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and its complications. Therefore, T2DM is a kind of immune dependent disease. Not only elevated fasting glucose level and innate immunity soluble molecules are related with insulin resistance but also inflammation is an important reason of beta cell dysfunction in T2DM. Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR-2) has an important role for induction of innate immune cells. There is some evidence about suppressive roles of Toll-like receptor 2 on immune responses in T2DM. We aimed to investigate the possible role of Toll-like receptor 2 del -196-174 and Arg753Gln gene polymorphisms in T2DM pathogenesis. Materials and methods: This study was designed as a case-control study. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment lenght polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique was used in 100 type 2 diabetes patients and 98 age-matched controls to determine the polymorphisms. Results: We significantly found higher frequencies for TLR-2 del -196-174 DD genotype (p=0,003), ID genotype (p=0,009) and D allele (p=0,001) in patients compared to controls. Besides, II genotype (p=0,001) and I allele (p=0,003) frequencies were elevated in healthy controls. Conclusion: We suggested that carrying D allele of TLR-2 del -196-174 polymorphism might be related as a risk factor for the disease mechanism.
