Heat Shock Protein 70 and The Risk of Multiple Sclerosis in The Iranian Population
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease of the central nervous system and one of the most common causes of neurological disability between 20-40 years of age, particularly in women. MHC Class II genes are the genes that involved in the development of MS. One of the important members of this complex is HSP, especially HSP70, induced under stress conditions. The aim of the present case–control study was to determine the association between Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) (rs1061581) gene polymorphism and risk of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Iranian patients. A total of 50 RRMS patients and 50 healthy control subjects were considered for the present study. Genotyping was performed by polymerase chain reaction–restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR–RFLP) method. PCR–RFLP results of twenty-five randomly selected samples were confirmed by DNA sequencing. Genotypic and allelic distributions were compared between cases and controls. Statistical analysis was done by SPSS, version 19.0 software. The results of the present study indicated that there were no significant differences in the distribution of HSP70 genotypes and allele frequencies between Iranian RRMS patients and controls. In RRMS patients, there were no associations between HSP70 gene polymorphisms and the clinical data. Our data indicate that HSP70 gene polymorphisms are not relevant in the susceptibility to or the severity of Iranian RRMS patients. Further large prospective studies are required to confirm these findings.
