چکیده انگلیسی مقاله planting Haloxylon aphyllum and its integration with oil mulch was one of the common ways for stabilizing flowing sands for more than 3 decades in Iran and it seems that the effects of these operation on natural plants and soil of the region have not been studied yet. This study was designed to investigate the effects of oil mulching – Haloxylon plantation on vegetation and soil features of Samad Abad sandy desert in Sarakhs(a town in Khorasan Razavi province). Sampling in each of the regions under the project and the control site was done systematically and in the reagent mass. At each site (under the project and control) 9 transects were used each of them 50 meters long then the percentage of canopy covering, density of two dominant species (Convolvolus hamadae and Astragalus squarosus) and the percentage of total canopy covering were calculated. In each area 220 saplings from these two species were chosen and the total volume along with alive volume of their live shoot were calculated. Moreover, in each area, Two soil profiles were excavated and soil was sampled in two depths: 0-20 and 20-80 cm then the percentage of their organic matter was determined. Data analysis was done using independent T-test. The results showed that the operation of mulching- Haloxylon plantation caused a significant reduction in the percentage of total canopy cover, percentage of canopy cover, As sq density and Co ha density but it increased the alive volume of the live shoot of As sq species.
