عنوان فارسی امریکا و اهمیت نظامی ایران در جنگ جهانی دوم
چکیده فارسی مقاله ایران در موقعیتی حساس از جغرافیای جهانی قرار دارد. ‌این موقعیت همواره موجب رقابت قدرت‌های بزرگ برای تسلط بر‌این کشور می‌شده است. تا اوایل قرن بیستم‌این رقابت عمدتاً بین روسیه و انگلستان بود، روسیه تلاش داشت نفوذ سیاسی و اقتصادی خود را در‌ ایران تعمیق بخشد و انگلستان کوشش می‌کرد مانع نزدیکی روسیه به مرزهای هند گردد. در‌ این میان، انگلستان سیاستی در پیش گرفته بود که طبق آن‌ایران باید استقلال نیم‌بندی داشته باشد تا در پرتو آن بتواند سدی در مقابل هر دولت ثالثی باشد که می‌خواست به هند - سرزمین رؤیایی اروپایی­ها- نزدیک شود. کشف نفت موجب ارتقای جایگاه نظامی ایران در عرصه‌‌های جهانی شد، به گونه‌ای که آلمان و امریکا هم برای دستیابی به بازار‌این کشور وارد رقابتی فشرده با روس و انگلیس شدند. مقاله حاضر یکی از عرصه‌‌های‌این رقابت را به نمایش گذاشته است و براساس اسناد آرشیوهای امریکا، انگلیس و وزارت خارجه‌ایران و همچنین با اتکاء به منابع منتشر شده فارسی و انگلیسی، سیمایی نوین از‌این تحرکات را عرضه می­دارد، طبق‌این اسناد انگیزه اصلی متفقین از هجوم به‌ایران، نه مسئله آلمان که جغرافیای نظامی کشورمان بود.

چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Iran is situated at a sensitive position of the world's geography. The mentioned position has incessantly given rise to big powers rivalries for dominating Iran. Till early 20th century, the mentioned rivalry has been mostly going between Russia and England. Russia strived for deepening its socio- political influence in Iran while England was endeavoring to impede Russia from approaching the borders of India. In the meantime, England had proceeded with and followed a policy, according to which, Iran needed to have a semi- established independence to enable it serve as a barrier against any third State intending to approach India, the coveted and dream land of the Europeans. Striking oil promoted Iran's military standing in the global arenas in a way that Germany and America joined a pressed competition with their English and Russian rivals to access the market of this country. The current article has demonstrated one of the arenas of the mentioned competition and is providing a new countenance of these movements on the basis of documents in the archives of America, England and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and also drawing upon Persian and English publications. According to the above mentioned documents, the main motivation behind the incursion of the Allied forces for into Iran, was not the German issue but rather its military geography.
