عنوان انگلیسی Predicting Value of CT scan in Posterior Ligamentous Complex Injury in patients with Thoracolumbar Spine Fractures
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Purpose: Thoracolumbar spine fractures include a range of injury severity from simple apophyseal fractures to neurological injury and complex fractures associated with vertebral dislocation. The treatment of thoracolumbar fractures is challenging and many of these challenges are related to the evaluation of posterior ligamentous complex (PLC). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of CT scan in predicting PLC injury of patients that suffering from Thoracolumbar spine fractures that refers to referral center of spine trauma in east-north of Iran in 2016. Methods: This retrospective study, conducted in Mashhad, east-north of Iran at Shahid Kamyab Hospital in 2016. All patients with thoracolumbar injury included in this study and all medical records entered into the special forms. AO Spine classification system was applied to classified spine fractures. Results: The results showed that 71 patients (71.7 %) were male. Also the mean age of participants was 44.6±17.7. PLC in 28 patients (28.3 %) was injured. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between facet joint widening, increasing interspinous process distance, and spinous process avulsion fracture; and PLC injury. (P value < 0.05) Conclusion: This study indicates that the diagnosis of PLC injury shown by CT scan findings was similar to the results with MRI in patients with thoracolumbar spine fractures.
