عنوان انگلیسی Evaluation of Troponin I serum level in peritoneal dialysis patients and relationship between Troponin I and cardiovascular risk factors.
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Introduction: End stage renal disease is a situation that predispose the patients to cardiovascular disease especially myocardial infarction. Valuable biomarker for diagnosis of this event is cardiac troponin. The most sensitive variable is cardiac troponin I. indeed it increases in asymptomatic patient. Material and methods: All patients more than 18 years old, on chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) for at least 3 months, and did not have history of acute myocardial infarction or hospitalization for CVD during last month are included in a cross sectional descriptive study.  Troponin I serum level was measured by VIDAS Troponin I Ultra (TNIU) Assay.  Correlation between serum troponin level and cardiovascular risk factors are evaluated. Results: In this study, 52% of patients were male. Mean cTnI level was 0.025± 0.044ng/mL, less than 0.11ng/mL, and only five patients had cTnI level more than laboratory threshold. Conclusion: Cut-off level of cTnI for diagnosing of cardiovascular disease must be re-evaluate and maybe increase to 0.3ng/mL. Indeed, asymptomatic patient may need more close observation for cardiovascular disease.   Key words: cardiac troponin I, peritoneal dialysis, cardiovascular risk factors
