عنوان انگلیسی Therapeutic effect of electrical stimulation on chronic tinnitus: A double blind randomized controlled trial
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله   Materials and methods: This was a clinical trial on 49 patients with persistent tinnitus for more than 6 months who did not respond to routine treatments. All patients underwent comprehensive audiological assessments and hearing tests. They were randomly allocated into two groups: case group were treated with electrical stimulation for 6 sessions over 6 consecutive days; and control group who received placebo. One week and three months after the treatment sessions, patients were evaluated again by comprehensive audiological assessments and hearing tests. Results: Mean age of participants was 40.3673± 9.3 in case group and 41.353±9.2 in control group. Tinnitus intensity was significantly decreased in case group one week and three months after the treatment (p.value< 0.05). Also THI score was significantly decreased in case group one week and three months after the treatment (p.value< 0.05). Finally, according to the results there was no significant difference in mean of tinnitus after treatment considering gender, age, tinnitus duration and tinnitus type. Conclusions: According to the results of this study, electrical stimulation can reduce and significantly improve the severity of the tinnitus without considering the variables such as age, sex, duration and type of tinnitus.
