This article contains the transcription of the speech by Pope John PauliI concerningislam and the Qur'an, followed by a letter sent to himin response to this lecture by the theniranian Ambassador to Vatican. Anexplanation of theissue of Divine Unity, Divine Presencein the context of human life, and refutation of any ``tajsim'' (beliefin physical existence of God)in view of the Qur'an are the basicissues presentedin response to the Pope's speech.
