عنوان انگلیسی Re-considering the Border Thinking of Islamic Feminism: Leila Ahmed’s Reading on Islam and its Compatibility to Modern Gender Norms
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله The post-colonial moment is a vital opportunity for Muslim women to shift their strategic position from a unit of analysis to the agent of knowledge production. Islamic feminism is considered this alternative knowledge to bring an epistemological emancipation from old Orientalist scholarship. This study, then, addresses the pivotal work Women and Gender in Islam by Leila Ahmed (1992) as a prominent source of Islamic feminism that stands highly frequent in American academic syllabi, and possesses a broad international audience. Regarding the problematic of border thinking between Islam and modernity, it indicates the prevalence of modern motifs and propositions in Islamic feminism using critical discourse analysis. It tries to unveil the necessity of re-considering the internal ambivalences and discursive complications of the book, considering its logic in approaching early marriage, polygamy, and veiling through Ahmedchr('39')s creation of complex binaries such as Jahiliah vs. Islam and the Prophet vis-a-vis his female counterparts.
