چکیده فارسی مقاله آواشناسان مسلمان و دانشمندان فنّ تجوید، هستی یک حرف را بر دو پایه گذاشته‌اند: مخرج و صفات. بر همین مبنا، حروف عربی را دسته‌بندی کرده و سعی کرده‌اند فرایندهای آوایی موجود در علم تجوید را تبیین علمی کنند؛ امّا در بسیاری از موارد موفّق نبوده و اختلاف نظرهای زیادی با هم داشته‌اند. این اختلاف نظرها اختلاف قرائات در قرآن کریم را سبب شده است. این نوشته، آنچه را که پیشینیان ما دربارۀ تجوید گفته‌اند از پنجرۀ آواشناسی و واج شناسی امروز نگریسته و توصیفی علمی و امروزی از تجوید فرا پیش نهاده است. بر این اساس، به دسته‌بندی جدیدی از حروف عربی و به تعریف جدیدی از اصطلاحاتی چون حروف متقارب، حروف متجانس و حروف متباعد و به تبیین جدیدی از فرایندهای تجویدی چون ادغام رسیده است. کلیدواژه‌ها: قرآن کریم، تجوید، قرائت، آواشناسی، واج‌شناسی، ادغام.

عنوان انگلیسی Phonetic Examination of the Science of Qur’anic Recitation
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Muslim phoneticians and the scientists of the art of recitation (orthoepists) have based the entity of a letter on two foundations: point of articulation and properties. Accordingly, they have categorized Arabic letters and tried to scientifically explain the phonetic process existing in the science of correct recitation of the Qur’an (tajwid); however, they have not been successful in many instances and have been widely disagreed. These disagreements have caused different readings (qara’at) of the Holy Qur’an. This article has viewed from contemporary perspective of phonetics and phonemics what our earlier scholars have said about tajwid and presented a scientific and modern description of it. On this basis, it has achieved a new classification of the Arabic Language, a new definition of such terms as convergent (mutiqarib), homogeneous (mutijanis), and divergent (mutiba’id) letters, and a new explanation of tajwid processes like assimilation (idqam).
