عنوان انگلیسی A Research About the Scientific References of Geography and Ancient Iran Geographers
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله The extended Breadth, Brilliant historical background and powerful empire of Iran in ancient era, causes that researchers conclude that Iran should be so powerful in scientific sides and especially the geography science. But the remained scientific works in geography domain isn’t considerable. In present study, using the literature review method, it was revealed that, there are few geography references about Iran before Islam. These references remained as Books, Manuscripts, Inscription and Epopee forms. Among the remained books the Avesta, Bundahišn, Dēnkart, and Menog-i Khrad have a significant importance. Moreover, Šahrestānīhā ī Ērānšahr, The wonder and remarkability of Sagastān, History of Karkā ḏe Bēṯ Selōḵ, The Chronicle of Arbela, Parthian Stations and Movses Khorenatsi geography books have pointed on geographic issues of ancient Iran, directly. The remained letters of kings in this era such as Ardashir-e Babakan, Tansar and Artabanus to Susa citizens have information about geography. Some of inscriptions in ancient Iran have geographic concepts such as Darius, Persepolis, Susa, Xerxes I and Shapur I. There is a lack of geographers’ name in ancient Iran same as the scientific references about the geography. Only two person named Isidore Charax and Movses Khorenatsi can be accounted as geographers, studied the Iran geography, directly.
