Spatial distribution analysis of chemical casualties of Iraq war against Iran with health demographic policy approach

Aims:
Iraq used chemical weapons in the war with Iran, in military and civilian areas. Due to the long-term effects of these weapons, Considering over 35 years after this eight-year war, the number of chemical warfare victims is increasing.The purpose of this research is to investigate the spatial distribution of chemical warfare victims by province.
Research Methodology:
This descriptive-analytical research study had done using data obtained from the General Department of Statistics and Information Technology of the Martyr and Veteran Affairs Foundation. The data of chemical casualties includes the number; the place of residence, gender and type of injury in 2021 that had analyzed using SPSS 20 and ArcGIS software and Moran's test.
Findings
The total number of veterans in the year 2021 is equal to 601330 people that 10.7% of them were chemical warfare victims. The provinces of Tehran (11 percent),Isfahan (9.67 percent), and Khorasan-Razavi (6.92 percent) have the highest percentage, and the provinces of Hormozgan (0.39 percent), South Khorasan (0.66 percent), and Sistan and Buchistan (0.77 percent) have the lowest. The spatial distribution results also showed that the distribution of chemical warfare victims in the country follows a cluster pattern.
Conclusion
:The consequences of Iraq's use of chemical weapons can be seen in all the provinces of the country, despite the share of the most populated provinces of the country such as Tehran, Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi, Kerman and the share of the western and southern provinces such as Azerbaijan.West and Khuzestan, which were bordering Iraq, are more than other provinces.
