چکیده انگلیسی مقاله AbstractFoley adopts a different approach to epistemology. He deny that there is any necessary tie between knowledge and justified belief. Foley seek to present a general theory of rationality. He takes steps to complete an initial schema of rationality that is Aristotelean and goal-oriented notion. At the heart of his general theory is a template: "a decision (plan, belief, strategy, action, etc) A, is rational in sense X for S if it is epistemically rational for S to believe that A will do an acceptably good job of satisfying his or her goals of type X". For make general assessment, Foley think of two qualifications: take into account all goals and thinking that there is no privileged perspective. Pragmatic reasons determine the standards of justified belief in the indirectly way, that is specifying importance of the topic that believed and believer's social role. Despite providing a better and more efficient understanding of rationality within the framework of Foley's theory, relativism, being permissive, Ignoring social, pubic and objective standards, being Non-defencive, Instrumentalism, lack of needful attention to other kinds of rationality (except for epistemic rationality); are the main criticism toward his schema.
