Objective: Indirect injuries of war are among the factors that always affect the psychological health of children of veterans. The purpose of this study was to explain the causal relationship between religious attitude and spiritual intelligence with psychological capital in the children of veterans with the role of mediating the cognitive regulation of emotion.
Materials and methods: The fundamental study method and in terms of data collection method was descriptive studies and causal modeling statistical method. Out of 86,642 children (boys and girls) of veterans aged 18 to 40, 253 were available and voluntarily selected as a sample group between April 1401 and September 1401. Questionnaires of psychological capitals of Lutans et al. (2007), religious attitude of Khodayari Fard et al. (2012), spiritual intelligence of King (2007) and cognitive regulation of emotion were used by Garnevsky et al. (2001). Data were analyzed using path analysis test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression, in Imus software environment.
Findings: The results showed that the evaluated structural model had good fit indices for the data. The indirect path coefficient between spiritual intelligence (β = 0.054,p = 0.023) and religious attitude (β = 0.171,p = 0.001) with psychological capital is positive and significant. This finding indicates that cognitive emotion regulation strategies mediate the relationship between spiritual intelligence and religious attitude with psychological capital in a positive and meaningful way.
Results: Spiritual intelligence, religious attitude and cognitive emotion regulation strategies explained the psychological capital in veterans' children.
