عنوان انگلیسی Recent Developments in Petroleum Wastewater Treatment Based on Advanced Oxidation Processes: A Review
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله This review essentially appraises the application of photo-catalytic treatment technologies in managing petroleum refinery wastewater, which is of particular importance as an environmental concern due to some limitations involving conventional treatment methods. These advanced oxidation and photo-catalytic processes reportedly show high efficiency in degrading certain toxic and refractory organic compounds often not addressed by traditional treatments, using mainly Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) and Zinc Oxide (ZnO) as catalysts. Wastewater from petroleum refinery plants contains toxic and refractory organic compounds that have been resistant to conventional treatment technology, therefore creating a severe problem for the environment. Different technological developments in photo-catalytic processes are reviewed here, including improved catalysts and new reactor designs. However, on the other side, it has to be considered that problems of recovery of catalysts, dependence on solar irradiance, scalability problems, and high costs have to be addressed. In the review, practical implications have been considered connected with methods developed in advanced oxidation processes and photo-catalysis at present, both at the laboratory and at the industrial level, which have yet to express all their potential. This study, therefore, focuses on the entire understanding of the present process and prospects of advanced oxidation process treatment technologies in petroleum refinery wastewater management. This study focuses on applying photo-catalytic therapy in urban areas, especially those near oil refineries. This achievement shows how valuable and applicable the technology is for treating wastewater today, particularly when environmental factors are significant. However, the advancement of photo-catalytic treatment depends on overcoming the present obstacles. The economy and ecology depend on the advancement of catalyst recovery technologies, making this a major field of study. Notwithstanding these systems' difficult circumstances, attempts are being made to lower costs and enhance system performance.
