چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Aims: This study aimed to evaluate how individual factors and physician performance influence community decisions to engage a family physician in Jambi City.
Instrument & Methods: This cross-sectional study was done on 601 respondents recruited from various primary healthcare facilities, including health centers and clinics in Jambi City. The independent parameters included knowledge, community attitudes, and family physician performance, while the dependent parameter was the decision to have a family physician. Data were gathered using a validated questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level to identify statistically significant associations.
Findings: Of the respondents, 67.1% lacked sufficient knowledge about family physicians, and only 11.8% reported having a family physician. There was a significant association between community knowledge and family physician ownership (p<0.001). Additionally, positive attitudes (p=0.040) and high-quality physician performance (p=0.020) significantly influenced the decision to have a family physician. These findings highlight the need for broader educational interventions to enhance public understanding of the role and benefits of family physicians within the healthcare system.
Conclusion: Limited knowledge, unfavorable attitudes, and suboptimal perceptions of physician performance are key barriers to adopting family-based healthcare services in Jambi City.
