عنوان انگلیسی Ps-101: Effect of Crab Shell Extract on Nitric Oxide Production and Migration of Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Objective: Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vessels. There are many studies to decrease vessel growth in various diseases particularly cancers, including the use of natural compounds. Marine organisms have different therapeutic properties in various diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of crab shell ethanolic extract on nitric oxide production and migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Materials and Methods: Crab shell extract was first prepared, and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were treated with different concentrations of crab shell (100, 200, 400, 800 and 1000 μg/ ml) for 24, 48 and 72 hours. Nitric oxide production was assessed by Griess reagent and cell migration were evaluated in 400 and 1000 μg/ml concentrations. Oneway ANOVA was used for data analysis. P˂0.05 was considered significant. Results: In all of the treatment groups, nitric oxide production by HUVECs was decreased in a dose- and time dependent manner (p˂0.05). After 24 hours, a decrease in the migration of cells was also observed. Conclusion: Crab shell extract decreases migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells and maybe exerts this effect by decreasing of nitric oxide production.
