چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Objective: A sensitive biochemical test for the assessment of Mg and Ca status would be useful for migraine patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the intracellular magnesium and calcium concentration in patients with migraine. Materials and Methods: Patients of migraine headache groups consist of 21 people who were followed up in our hospital with the diagnosis of migraine. Control groups consisted of 24 healthy participants. Lymphocytes from 2.5 ml of heparinized blood were separated on Ficoll- Paque. Lymphocytes magnesium and calcium concentrations were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (Shimadzu, Columbia, AA- 670). Results: Lymphocytes Magnesium level in patients group was decreased compared to control group but the differences were not statistically significant [8.917± 0.403 (Mean ± SD) vs. 8.944± 0.396, μg/mL, p>0.05]. Lymphocytes Calcium level in patients was increased compared to control group [11.261±0.346 (Mean ± SD) vs. 10.369±0.355μg/mL, p>0.05]. Conclusion: Based on our data, the mg and ca content of lymphocytes seem to be a more accurate indicator of mg and Ca status than in serum. Our current findings are consistent with extensive neurological and physical examination results.
