عنوان انگلیسی P-72: Investigating the Cell Cycle of the Dechloromethane Extract of Pteridium Aquilinum on Bladder Carcinoma Cells
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Objective: Amang the high incidence malignancies, urinary bladder carcinoma is the fourth and eighth most frequent among men and women, respectively. Transitional cell carcinomas (TCCs), which accounts for 90% of bladder cancers, arise from the transitional epithelium of bladder. Bracken fern (Pteridium aquilinem) has been described as one of the most common plants on the planet. The consumption of bracken fern as food is associated with a high incidence of cancer in humans and animals. In cattle, bracken induces carcinomas of urinary bladder causing bovine enzootic hematuria; this is a relatively common condition in bracken-infested pasturelands. Materials and Methods: The plant P. aquilinum was collected from Gilan province and its dichloromethane extract was prepared. To study the cell cycle of the extract, TCC cells were treated with specific concentrations of the extract and examined for 24 hours after treatment. The cell cycle was analysised using propidium iodide-stained nuclei. Results: Comparison survival percent TCC cells were treated with the extract, DMSO and untreated cells with used of cell cycle assay show to arrest in a cell cycle of phase. Conclusion: Recent studies carried out on the extracts from different P. aquilinum plants revealed at this plant has the potential of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest induction in cancer cells. The results of present study confirmed the cytotoxic effects and cell cycle arrest of P. aquilinum on TCC cells
