چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Background: The aim of this study was to compare sexual function between women of infertile couples and women who have undergone TL. Materials and methods: In this case control study in Royan Institute and in a health center in Gilan province (Iran), between 2013 and 2014. There were 150 infertile women (cases) and 150 women undergoing TL (controls). A questionnaire was completed for each patient. The participants’ sexual function was evaluated and compared between two groups by using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaire. Scored data were collected on six different domains: desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain. Results: The greatest positive correlation in the TL group was between orgasm and arousal (0.754), and in infertile group between desire and sexual satisfaction (0.773). Infertile women and fertile women who want to undergo surgical sterilization have low sexual function scores in all mean values. Conclusion: Our findings indicated that adverse effects for the sexual life in women undergoing TL and infertile couples. Awareness and knowledge of healthcare professionals regarding the sexual dysfunction in women should be increased.
