چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Background: The Background of this study was to assess (KABP) regarding HIV/AIDS among pregnant women attending PPTCT program before and after counseling at Lok Nayak Hospital, New Delhi. Materials and Methods: It was an intervention longitudinal study. Data was collected by interviewing 600 pregnant women attending antenatal clinic during May 2006 to May 2007 using a pre-test and post-tested questionnaire. They were selected based on the eligibility criteria of gestational age between 5-32 weeks. Pregnant women were excluded if they were HIV positive or had received anti-retroviral therapy before attending the clinic. Women who had formal counseling about HIV/ AIDS earlier were also excluded. Data was entered and analyzed by using SPSS 16.Results: About 69.2% of the pregnant women had heard about AIDS before the counseling. Knowledge regarding mother to child transmission of HIV was 53.5%. 38.2% knew that mother to child transmission can be reduced by drugs.
