چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Background & Aim: Transfer of critically ill patients from intensive care units to diagnostic or therapeutic wards is inevitable and may be associated with risks and complications for the patient. Therefore, nurses should be aware of patient transfer standards and try to maintain patient safety during the transfer. Thus, the aim of this study was to examine the impact of training on the quality of in-hospital transfer of hospitalized patients in intensive care units. Methods & Materials: In this quasi-experimental study, at first, the quality of in-hospital transfer of patients from intensive care units were observed and assessed. Then, all nurses working in these units participated in a workshop actively. A month after the educational intervention, the performance of intensive care nurses during in-hospital transfer of patients was re-evaluated by a check list. Finally, collected data was analyzed using SPSS software version 16. Results: Results showed that, 66% of in- hospital transfers were at undesirable level before the training. While, the mean score of quality patient transfer was 47.49 ± 9.55 before the intervention and it reached to 67.47 ± 12.80 after the intervention, and the means difference was statistically significant (P< 0.001). Conclusion: Results of this study showed that, the quality of in-hospital transfer of intensive patients is not just acceptable and need to improve. Performing interactive educational strategies such as a workshop are effective in this way. Therefore, it is recommended that, to promote safe transfer of critically ill patients, nurses must undergo in-service training, especially as this subject does not exist in the formal nursing education program.
