چکیده فارسی مقاله مزایا و معایب رؤیای آمریکایی استیون اف. مسنر ، ریچارد روزنفلد[1] ترجمه‌ی علی موسی‌نژاد[2] چکیده مسنر و روزنفلد در کتاب« جرم و رؤیای آمریکایی» به یکی از مؤلفه‌های غالباً فراموش شده‌ی نظریه‌ی « ساختار اجتماعی و آنومی» مرتن؛ یعنی چرا ایالات متحده چنین نرخ جرم بالایی دارد، می‌پردازند. مسنر و روزنفلد « نظریه‌ی آنومی نهادی» را مطرح کردند که به موضوع آنومی در سطح جامعه‌ می‌پردازد. مثل مرتن درصدد تبیین نرخ فوق‌العاده بالای جرم در ایالات متحده هستند. و این هدف را با اشاره به « رؤیای آمریکایی» محقّق می‌کنند. مسنر و روزنفلد در تأکید بر این امر که نرخ بالای جرم در ایالات متحده تا حدودی از این واقعیّت ناشی می‌شود که جامعه‌ی آمریکا، افراد را به پی‌گیری هدف موفقیّت مالی ترغیب می‌کند؛ اما برای ابزارهای مشروع به منظور دست‌یابی به اهداف، ارزش ناچیزی قائل است، به شدتتحت تأثیر نظریه‌ی آنومی مرتن هستند. به عبارت دیگر، هنجارهای مشروع مقبول به لحاظ فرهنگی فدای هدف می‌شوند که بیش از زندگی اهمیت می‌یابد. با این حال، مسنر و روزنفلد نظریه‌ی مرتن را هم بسط داده‌اند. در وهله‌ی اول، آن‌ها مدعی هستند که تأکید فرهنگی بر موفقیّت مالی با این تصور توأم است که نهاد اقتصاد در دیگر نهادها؛ مانند خانواده، آموزش و حکومت نفوذ می‌کند و بر آن‌ها مسلّط می‌شود. استدلال آن‌ها این است که تسلّط نهاد اقتصاد تا آن اندازه عملکرد مناسب این نهادها را  مختل می‌کند که دیگر به طور مؤثر و به اندازه‌ی کافی نمی‌توانند افراد جامعه را جامعه‌پذیر کنند یا حتی رفتار منحرفانه را کیفر دهند. مسنر و روزنفلد استدلال می‌کنند که اگر جنبه‌های دیگر زندگی آمریکایی بیش از موفقیّت مادی مورد تأکید قرار گیرند، ایالات متحده می‌تواند فاقد چنین نرخ جرم بالایی باشد. آن‌ها به اقتصاد مختلط در اروپای غربی و ژاپن به مثابه‌ی نمونه‌هایی از جوامعی اشاره می‌کنند که نشان می‌دهند بر خلاف آنچه در آمریکا وجود دارد، سطحی از رفاه اقتصادی کاملاً به عملکرد اقتصادی وابسته نیست. واژگان کلیدی: جرم، رؤیای آمریکایی، آنومی نهادی، توازن نهادی قدرت. چکیده انگلیسی مقاله       THE VIRTUES AND VICES OF THE AMERICAN DREAM STEVEN F. MESSNER & RICHARD ROSENFELD TRANSLATED BY: ALI MOUSANEJAD Abstract   . In their text crime and the American Dream, M essner and Rosenfel attempt to address an often neglected component of Merton'teory of " social structure and anomy" , namely why the united   stares has such a high rate of crime. Messner and Rosenfel present an "institutional anomic" theory,   which address the issue of anomic at the societal level. Like Merton,Messner and Rosenfeld seek to   explain the excessively high rate of crime in the united states. They accomplish this goal by pointing to   the "American Dream". Messner and Rosenfeld draw heavily from Merton's anomie theory, asserting   that the high rate of crime in the united states stems partly from the fact that our society encourages   everyone to pursue the goal of monetary success but places little value on the legitimate means for   achieving that success. In other words, the legitimate, culturally accepted norms are sacrified for the   goal itself, which becomes larger than life.   However, Messner and osenfeld also extend Merton's theory. Primarily,they maintain that the cultural   emphasis on monetary success parallels the notion that the economy pervades and dominates every   other institution in America, including the family, education, and polity. They argue that the dominance   of the economy interferes with the proper functioning of these institutions to such a great extent that   they can no longer effectively and adequately socialize individuals or even sanctions deviant behavior.   Messner and Rosenfel argue that if other aspects of American life were emphasized over material   success, the United States might not have such a high crime rate. They point to the mixed economies of   wester Europe and Japan as examples of societies tha ensue that a level of economic well-being is not   completely dependent upon economic performance, as it is in the Unites States.   Although their " institutional anomie" theory is still undergoing empirical testing, their theory provides   important consideration of societal differences in crime rates. Additionally. Their approach forces   Americans to answer some tough questions about the core values that underline the American Dream.   In other words, maybe we should ask whether this emphasis placed on monetary success ( seemingly, by   any means necessary ) is something we really want for our society.   KEY WORDS:   Crime, Americam Dream, Institutional Anomie, Institutiona Balance Of power.
