عنوان فارسی درمان های ارتودنسی توسط دندانپزشکان عمومی - شیراز
چکیده فارسی مقاله مقدمه: بخشی از درمان‏های ارتودنسی به ویژه در حیطه درمان‏های پیشگیرانه-مداخله‏ای به عهده دندانپزشکان می‏باشد. هدف از این مطالعه ارزیابی خدمات ارتودنسی ارائه شده توسط دندانپزشکان عمومی در شهر شیراز بود. مواد وروش‏ها: در این مطالعه مقطعی و توصیفی، پرسشنامه‏ای شامل 12 سوال برای 115 دندانپزشک عمومی که به شکل تصادفی طبقه‏ای نمونه‏گیری شده بودند، ارسال گردید. پرسشنامه به گونه‏ای طراحی شد که اطلاعاتی را در زمینه ویژگی‏های دموگرافیک و درمان‏های ارتودنسی دندانپزشکان عمومی جمع‏آوری نماید. اطلاعات به دست آمده از طریق آزمون Chi-square مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. یافته‏ها: بیش از نیمی از شرکت‏کنندگان در مطالعه اعلام نمودند که درمان ارتودنسی انجام نمی‏دهند. شایع‏ترین مال‏اکلوژن‏هایی که توسط افراد مورد مطالعه درمان می‏شدند شامل نامرتبی دندان‏ها، اضافه فضا و فضانگهدارنده بود. کمی بیش از10درصد شرکت‏کنندگان از تکنیک‏های Edgewise و Straight wire جهت درمان‏های ارتودنسی ثابت استفاده می‏کردند. اکثر شرکت‏کنندگان گزارش دادند که عمده دانش ارتودنسی خود را در طی دوره دانشگاه فرا گرفته‏اند و اکثریت آنها کیفیت آموزش ارتودنسی در طی این دوره را «ضعیف» قلمداد نمودند. دندانپزشکانی که سابقه کاری کمتری داشتند، درمان‏های ارتودنسی را بیشتر از بقیه انجام می‏دادند. نتیجه گیری: تغییر در سیستم آموزشی دوره دانشگاهی و برگزاری کارگاه‏ها می‏توانند به عنوان راه حلی جهت بهبود دانش و مهارت دندانپزشکان در ارتودنسی پیشگیرانه و مداخله‏ای به کار گرفته شود.

عنوان انگلیسی Orthodontic Treatments Provided by General Dentists in Shiraz, Iran
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Introduction: Some parts of orthodontic treatments, especially in the field of prevention-intervention are defined as general practitioners' responsibility. The aim of this study was to evaluate orthodontic treatments provided by general practitioners in Shiraz. Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional and descriptive study, a 12-item questionnaire was sent to 115 general dentists selected through stratified random sampling. The questionnaire was designed for gathering the data about the demographic characteristics of the dentists and their orthodontic treatments. The data were analyzed using SPSS software and Chi-square test. Result: More than half of the recipients reported that they have provided no orthodontic treatment. The most common malocclusions treated by the practitioners were crowding and spacing and space maintenance. A slightly more than 10% of the participants used Edgewise or Straight wire techniques for fixed treatments. The majority of the respondents reported that they received most of their orthodontic knowledge during undergraduate dental training and most of them evaluated the quality of orthodontic training as "Poor" during this course. Practitioners with fewer years of experience provided more orthodontic treatments than the others. Conclusion: Changes in the undergraduate educational system and workshop set ups can be considered as solutions to improve dentists' orthodontic skill and knowledge in preventive - interceptive orthodontics.
