چکیده فارسی مقاله Diplomatic relationship between Iran and the United Kingdom is one of the most heated debates in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic. The pros and cons of these relations have always been subject to argument and controversy among politicians and academics. This article seeks to analyze diplomatic ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Kingdom, applying the cost-benefit analysis method. In this relationship, the costs and benefits are discussed in three situations including the maintenance, downgrading, and rupture of diplomatic relations. The main question answered by the authors is how diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Kingdom can be analyzed according to the cost-benefit analysis method, and what costs and benefits can be brought about for Iran in case of the rupture, downgrading or maintenance of diplomatic relations with Britain. The final conclusion of this research suggests that under the current circumstances, downgrading diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom can lead to fewer costs and further benefits for the Islamic Republic of Iran in comparison to the other two options.

چکیده انگلیسی مقاله روابط سیاسی ایران و انگلستان، یکی از مباحث پراهمیت در سیاست خارجی جمهوری ‌اسلامی به شمار می‌رود که فواید و مضار آن برای ایران همواره محل بحث و مناقشه میان سیاست‌مداران و صاحب‌نظران دانشگاهی بوده است. این مقاله بر آن است تا با استفاده از روش تحلیل هزینه- فایده، به تجزیه و تحلیل روابط دیپلماتیک جمهوری اسلامی ایران با انگلستان بپردازد. در این راستا هزینه‌ها و منافع این مناسبات، در سه وضعیت حفظ روابط، کاهش و قطع آن مورد بحث قرار می‌گیرد. پرسش اصلی مقاله آن است که روابط سیاسی جمهوری‌اسلامی ایران و بریتانیا بر اساس رویکرد هزینه- فایده چگونه قابل تحلیل است و قطع، کاهش یا حفظ روابط دیپلماتیک با انگلیس چه منافع و هزینه‌هایی را برای ایران به بار می‌آورد؟ جمع‌بندی نهایی این پژوهش آن است که در شرایط کنونی، کاهش سطح روابط سیاسی با دولت انگلستان، برای جمهوری اسلامی ایران هزینه کمتر و منافع بیشتری را نسبت به دو گزینه دیگر جلب می‌کند.
