عنوان انگلیسی Growth Modulation with Reconstruction Plate for Genu Valgum Deformity in Twins: Case Report and Literature Review‌
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Introduction: Genu valgum is an angular deformity caused by several reasons such as congenital syndromes, post-traumatic bone dysplasia or an idiopathic form.it causes cosmetic problems, difficulties in functions and pain. Manipulating the growth plate by hemiepiphysiodesis with implants helps us to achieve the correct alignment. Case presentation: We present twin girls diagnosed with genu valgum deformity who were suffering from cosmetic problems and pain. We used growth modulation in order to temporary arrest the growth plate. They were followed by photographs and after eight months implants were removed without having overcorrection. A briefly review was also performed related to the reported cases in the international databases such as PubMed and Google scholar about growth modulation for genu valgum deformity in twins. Conclusion: Twin girls with genu valgum deformities went under hemiepiphysiodesis surgeries. We used reconstruction plates and 3.5mm non-cannulated screws to fix both distal femur and proximal tibia in order to temporary arrest the growth plate. When we achieved the correct alignment we removed the devices.
